Joshua’s Amazon Expeditions offer you a guide adventure in to the amazon jungle were on a 5 days jungle trip of which two nights are spent out in the jungle. On this tour it is possible to explore the forest in a non-conventional way, normally done in small groups; Very important because the less noise the better.

The lodge.

The Juma floating lodge its located 100 kilometers south of Manaus in the Juma reserve which is an area rich in flora and fauna. The lodge was built over special thongs of trees on the water preserving the natural environment which is very important for forest preservation. The accommodation is in private rooms with air conditioning, fans and a bathroom. It is a simple and clean place, perfect for small groups interested in exploring the Amazon Jungle. The capacity of the lodge is 24 people. The lodge has electricity with 110 volts which provides clients with the opportunity to recharge batteries of equipment such as cameras and others. The main meals -lunch and dinner- are generally prepared with regional fresh fish, chicken, beef, beans, salads, rice, vegetables and fruits.


Activities include piranha fishing, spearfishing at night, dolphin watching, sunset and the sunrise tours, Cayman spotting at night, jungle trekking, canoeing through the flooded forest and small tributaries.


Day one:

The tour starts at 8am when you are taken by car from the hotel to the Ceasa Port on the right bank of the Negro River about 20 kilometers from Manaus. From there a speed-boat takes you to the meeting of the waters (the point where the Negro r and the Solimões Rivers meet).
On the other side of the river arrive at the village of Careiro. From there, a car or van will take you to the Paraná do Mamori River. Another one hour trip by speed-boat takes you to the lodge. Arrive at around 11:30am. Lunch is served at 12:30pm and the afternoon an activity starts at 2:30pm. It is a canoe trip to watch dolphins, birds, do piranha fishing and finally the watching of the sunset at about 6:30pm. Dinner is served at 7pm and then at about 8:30pm Cayman spotting is done. Everyone leaves in a canoe and your guide literally snatches a Cayman out of the water explaining about the reptile which is then returned to its habitat.

Day two:

At 5:30am a canoe awaits you to watch the sunrise and to get a close up view of the forest waking up to a new day. When you return have breakfast and then at 8am a jungle walk starts for the rest of the morning. During the walk, the guide explains valuable information about life in the rainforest. Much is learned about medicinal plants, spiders, trees and there is even a chance of seeing monkeys.
The afternoon activity starts at 3pm. It is canoeing in the flooded forest and small channels. It is a great opportunity to see and learn more about the flora and fauna of this fantastic Amazon jungle.

Day three:

From 8am to 11am a visit is made to a local family house. Participate of a typical day in the life of the local people. At around 3pm guests leave the lodge to overnight in the forest. It is chance to learn about the nocturnal life. There is also a chance of doing spearfishing.

Day four:

While in the forest the guide teaches survival techniques and gives shares information related to the forest. There is also a chance to do spear fishing, more trekking and canoeing. Overnight in the forest.

Day five:

Return to the lodge at around 11:00am. After lunch at 1:30pm leave the lodge back to Manaus arriving there at about 4:30pm.

• Maximum luggage 25lbs per person. Passengers must arrange to have any excess luggage remain in our office or at the hotel in Manaus
